Gurus' Rules & Honors

Computer Gurus build long-term relationships with their computer clients. Subject to credit approval, we invoice clients for services performed including telephone support. All invoices are net 15.

To access Computer Gurus via the telephone, you must be one of our customers with credit approved. The minimum charge for telephone support is 15 minutes and we invoice in quarter hour increments.

A one hour minimum (plus applicable travel time) applies to all on-site computer work and all repair work performed at our Sacramento repair facility. We provide estimates before any repair work begins including hardware and labor costs. We require customer approval before work begins. Estimated delivery / completion time varies but most problems are solve the same day.

For computer training, consider pre-purchased blocks of five or ten hours. Rates vary, depending on the number of hours purchased. Minimum training session length is one hour, but there is no maximum training session length. In private sessions, we can train more than one individual at the same time. Call for rates. If training is pre-purchased in blocks, training must be completed within six months of the initial training session. A training appointment constitutes a firm commitment between Computer Gurus and the client. Unless a 24-hour notice is given to cancel a training session, the client will be invoiced for the training.

The client is responsible for all software used during training. Prior to training, the client must provide proof of ownership of each software title. The latest version of the software is not required. Here's the catch – Computer Gurus will not load non-licensed software on any computer nor will we train using any copied software.
Computer Gurus does not guarantee a particular software package will provide the client with the desired results. Training only is intended to teach clients to use their software. Computer Gurus will evaluate software for a client and make recommendations for client's needs.

Learning new software (or becoming more productive with existing software) can be a frustrating experience and the learning curve can be very steep. Students with keyboard or data-entry challenges become even more frustrated during training. One-on-one training is intense, but training is paced to the client's needs. Optimal training is performed at client's home or office during times when there are no outside distractions. A short break every 30 minutes is desired, but not required. Training sessions can be scheduled anytime between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, seven days a week.

All training is 100% guaranteed. If client isn't 100% satisfied with a trainer or with a training session, notify Computer Gurus (in writing within five days of the training session) for a refund of the training fee for that session. Some items aren't covered by our 100% money-back guarantee. These include such things as hardware or software issues not caused by the trainer, non-productive session because of client distractions, clients pre-occupied with other work, or clients who are keyboard challenged, etc.

New hardware installed by Computer Gurus carries a warranty from the manufacturer and Computer Gurus will assign this warranty to the client. Typically, hard drives carry a three year warranty, sound and video cards carry a one year warranty, and miscellaneous hardware carries a 30 day warranty. If we provide used parts (of course, with client's knowledge and prior approval), these parts will be indicated on the invoice. The warranty on used parts is 90 days for parts and 30 days for labor.

Computer Guru's labor is warrantied for 30 days. Upon completion of a job, the client will sign a completion form indicating the computer work was performed and their computer functions normally. Computer Gurus are not responsible for hardware or software modifications made after we leave the office.

Guru does not train or support computer game software. With few exceptions, computer games are the root of many computer problems. We repair computers rendered inoperative by computer games, but we will not warranty our work if, after we finish our service, computer games are reloaded on the just-repaired computer. Bottom line – computer games void our labor guarantee policy.

Computer Gurus has two words about laptops – "No fix." Our suggestion is to return your inoperative laptop to the place of purchase or the manufacturer. However, we will assist with software installation and training on laptop computers.
